Honestly the reason it feels so bad IS because of the aoe reduction. The whole point of omnivamp was to give ad and ap casters a way to sustain through abilities like old spell vamp, but also through auto attacks. Haven't seen any discussing on the move from lifesteal/spellvamp to be replaced pretty much outright to omnivamp.
