Is tradovate good
I use tradestation on my windows (on my mac) which works pretty well for my needs. It's good right out of the box, lots of different commodities and currency futures for reasonable margin. $3-4k will be enough for a couple micro/ commodity contacts. I wouldn't recommend ninjatrader. Really outdated and the whole "lifetime license" is nonsense. Working orders will be filled if they were sent before the outage. If you got filled with a bracket order auto-attached at the time of trade execution, you're good. I've been thinking the same thing. This is because I use SierraChart and Jigsaw. SierraChart has the most stable data connection and excellent trade copier and most customizable charts. Jigsaw has one of the best DOM. The tradovate unfortunately only allows tradovate or ninjatrader, which has lacking features for me. DOM sucks on both and ninja has efficiency issues.If you don't tie your orders to 1 tick data or use high fill resolution, your backtest will be wildly different than reality. If you use 1 tick data or high fill resolution, you will be closer to reality (it's pretty good)--I would still visually validate there aren't data issues though, as they do happen (you know it when you see it on the chart).Tradovate desktop app is very good. If you have been paper trading for a while and I might switch to TradeStation if the fills are decent. Ninjatrader is also down right now - they had acquired Tradovate, and seem to be using their systems on it.
